I moved to Alaska in 2006 and will be considered a Cheechako for another 4o years. A Cheechako is someone who is new to Alaska and is not wise to the ways of the north. The opposite of a Cheechako is a Sourdough.
I love it here in Alaska and plan to stay for the rest of my life. I sympathise with the newly arrived who blunder about The Great Land. That is why I am starting this blog, as kind of a cheat sheet for Cheechakos. This will take some of the burden off of the Sourdoughs who have had so much patience with me.
